Experience the breathtaking views of New Zealand's oldest National Park and World Heritage Site with a scenic flight over the dramatic landscape of the area. See into the live craters of Mt Tongariro, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Ruapehu, and view the spectacular lakes on the mountains, the Emerald Lakes, the Blue Lake and the Tama Lakes.

Our flights operate from 8.00 am, 7 days per week, weather permitting. Flights during summer operate until twilight. Bookings are preferable but not essential for fixed wing flights. Flights leave on demand with a minimum of 2 people, no age limit.

Tongariro Crossing:
Low level flight up to 6500ft. See the Te Maru Craters, the Blue and Emerald Lakes, the Red Crater and Tama Lakes. View the world famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing and Chateau Tongariro Resort from the air!

Northern Circuit:
A spectacular flight over Mt. Tongariro's craters, alpine lakes and classic shaped volcano of Mt Ngauruhoe, called 'Mt Doom' in The Lord of the Rings. Plenty of photo and viewing time with 10 minutes cruising an altitude of 8300ft over the volcano tops and breathtaking scenery from Lake Taupo to the ranges and west coast of New Zealand.

The Volcanic Explorer:
Our most popular flight climbing to 10,000 feet over all three volcanoes in the Tongariro National Park including the active crater lake of Mt Ruapehu and Lord of the Rings sites. On a clear day you can see Mt Taranaki, Napier and great views towards Wellington! Treat yourself to the 65 minute flight and include flights over the beautiful Huka Falls and Wairakei geothermal area

We offer Inter-Airport Scenic Flights for passengers of coach tours and groups travelling through the North Island who wish to experience a scenic flight without involving everyone in the group, and without holding up the group's travel timetable.

Mountain Air's airfields along the State Highways make it easy for the coach to stop and allow passengers to board the aircraft. Arranged by coach driver and/or tour guide.
